1) Fire Started by an Extension Cord
This morning, September 2, 2010, a fire was started by an extension cord. The fire started at a local residence on 2221 Curtis Street a little before two a.m. It started in their living room when an extension cord hooked to the AC got over heated and let flames out. The fire went all the way to the front porch into the attic. There were no injures, but the three people in the house noticed a few flames and made there way out before anyone got hurt. Unfortunately local firefighters, who put the fire out, say the house is a total loss.
2)Early Morning Shooting at Baton Rouge
At around three this morning a man was shot at 1519 N. Marque Ann Dr. The man was pronounced dead right at the scene of the crime. There are no suspects yet, but police have phone lines up waiting for more information from eye witnesses. The man was shot several times and it appears to not have been an "accident." Police are still investigating on finding the murder weapon and any other help full hints.
3) Pizza Hut Robbery
On August 21, 2010 around lunch time an employee saw two men in a car outside the Zachary Pizza Hut with masks on. The employee quickly tried to stop the robbers by getting another employee. They both quickly locked the door, and noticed the driver getting out had a gun in his hand. The robber and the employee both made eye contact and the robbers quickly drove off. The police later recognized the car and arrested both Steven Kendal Harrison, 19, and Joshua Troy Weathersby, 18. Luckily the employee had a keen eye and caught the robber before he could rob.
4)Burger King Sells For 3.26 Million Dollars
This evening in Chicago at around five the owners sold Burger King to an investment company called 3G Capital. The chairman, John Chidsey, says that this deal will help Burger King expand. He also said the reason they bought it was to branch Burger King out and make a more compelling menu that will leave costumers wanting more. They want to get the new menus out by September 17, but will they make it?
5)Man shot and killed at apartment
September 2, 2010 at around ten in the morning a thirty seven year old man was shot and killed. The police officer who found him said he was killed by gun shots. Derrick Lucas was found dead at the scene after being shot multiple times. It happened at 1718 Boulevard De Province, Apt. 62 in Baton Rouge. The police don't have any suspect, but are looking for clues and waiting for any calls from witness or anyone who knows anything.
