1) Susan Petersen Kennedy Becomes Chair to AAP
       
    On the 21st of August in New York, New York, The Association of American Publishers announced that the president of Penguin Group will become the new chair of AAP. Susan Petersen Kennedy has been the president of  Penguin Group since 2001. She once was a publisher and chairman of Viking Penguin,  and was the Executive Vice President  of Random House. She plans to use her years of hard work to help AAP with their publishing and advertisement. She commented that she can't wait to see AAP grow and get more and more books out for their readers.

2) Publishers Express Concern over Government Mandates on          Journal Articles

    In Washington, DC, on July 29, 2010, the APP told that the government is requiring free access to journal articles published by the private. They are saying that this will seriously under take U.S. jobs as well as copy write protection. Many are saying that it is unfair for the government to do this because publishers invest tons of money and work hard. They say because all the work they put into and all the money the invest they should be able to get the journal articles for free.

3) Publishers Ask Supreme Court to Bar Unauthorized Importation of Foreign Manufactured Copyrighted Works

   On the date of September 8, 2010, in Washington, DC, AAP started urging that the US Supreme Court uphold the ruling made by the Ninth Circuit saying that the first sale doctrine doesn't with take in unauthorized importing. AAP members stated their argument in a friendly and non violent way.  AAP's Vice president for their Government and Legal Affairs Allan Adler made the comment that this goes to the heart because with this ruling upheld they will be able to publish more school books for kids across the world. He also comment with the ruling up that it will be a struggle for college people to buy books when most come from foregin places.

4)AAP Reports 10.6% Increase in June Book Sales
   In month August and the day of the 19th in New York, New York, book sales for AAP increased to a high of 10.6%!  Young Adult books got to the increasing amount of 1.5 percent. Although sales were down ten percent that is still an increasingly great amount. E-books came with a whapping percent up 118.9 and are constantly growing. Religious Books have gone down eight percent over the couple of years, but have increased two percent recently.
