There are seven steps when interviewing somebody, and those steps are:
1)Chose what type of interview you would like to do. you can do it over the phone, or face to face. when you interview over the phone the person may open up more, but when you do it face to face you can see there facial expressions.
2)Be sure you have a time and place to meet the person you are interviewing. Also find somewhere your subject feels calm and relaxed.
3)Make sure you bring the supplies need. Come prepared so that the person you are interviewing will take you seriously. Most importantly take notes on key words and what not.
4)start a conversation with the person you are interviewing. That way the person you are interviewing feels comferdable as well.
5)Listen just as much as you talk. Be sure not to give a question before they can give you an answer to your first question.
6)Make sure you have all your questions lined up, and don't make it up as you go. Don't be afraid to speak up.
7)Let the interview go on as long as the person you are interviewing wants. Give them time to tell a story. Lastly, before they leave thank them for taking the time.
