Everyone knows about the oil spill and how it is going to take quite sometime to clean up and is hurting the animals. Well what you might not know is that the oil spill is probably affecting turtles the most. In fact the species of Kemp's Riddley Sea turtles where already endangered before the Spill and now are in even more trouble of being extinct. They, in fact, are the most endangered Sea Turtles in the world, and just so happen to live in the Gulf of Mexico. They where listed as endangered in December 2,1970 under the endangered species act. Kemp Riddley's are the smallest sea turtles and are as long as two feet and weigh as much as one hundred pounds. The female Kemp's Riddley go to the shores of The Gulf to nest which happens around April through July. They have many threats that have made them become so small in species. The first way is they get caught in fisher men's gear and have trouble getting out. The the second way is when they nest they leave there nest, and sometimes people then pick up their eggs. Finally the last way is the BP oil spill which has done the most damage to their environment.
